Our Jigsaw
The Food Bearer told us we should have names. We already have names, of course, but she doesn’t know them.
‘I will name you!’ she tells us. She doesn’t bother to ask for our names.
‘I will be able to call each of you by name when we have a chat,’ she says. We never have a chat, but we pretend to be pleased. I will photograph each of you and attach your name,’ she says.
We will try to remember these new names but we wonder how long this phase will last. She throws down some food from The Bountiful Supply. The cat is looking disdainfully from his perch.
Comic strip
A new cartoon from another of our Pondfish.
A comic strip
We have to swim out of the way as the cat tries to drink from our water. We expect that he won’t drink very much, so that won’t deplete our supply. The poor thing must be thirsty. We hope the human is looking after him properly. His coat looks full and bushy and he seems lively enough.
A new video in the morning. The Food Bearer says it shows off our bright colours. She says it looks as if we are in an opera. We like that. Our lives alternate between moment of high drama and peaceful contemplation.
We have two new ribbon grass plants and a fringe lily that will help aerate the pond water.
Here we are relaxing.
For a late gift the food bearer gave us some plants. We really wanted milfoil, because we eat it, but there hasn’t been any at the local nursery all season.
The cat didn’t get a Valentine’s gift. He usually gets most of the attention.
The food bearer made a video for us.
